Foreign and Regional Integration

FES Kazakhstan carries out projects aimed at researching Kazakhstan's relations with its neighbors and other partner countries, as well as Kazakhstan's cooperation with regional and global organizations in the field of peace and security.

It takes into perspective how the challenges of peace and security which Kazakhstan and the region faces are changing. For instance, the issue of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation is imminent for the region and the summer school dedicated to this topic offered young scholars to further strengthen policy-oriented research on it. This direction of FES Kazakhstan consists of a variety of projects on different issues like regional water security in Central Asia, fostering regional security cooperation among Central Asian states and Afghanistan and other issues. One of the former projects was to organize an annual regional conference where the experts from the former member-states of the Soviet Union discussed actual issues for every other year such as regional security, inequality issues, digitalization in the region.

For these reasons, FES Kazakhstan supports further development of a peace and security dialogues and the development of new concepts for policies with an encompassing set of stakeholders and create new dialog platforms for a structured and fruitful exchange between decision makers and experts in the region and beyond.
