Young Leadership Program (YouLP)

Young Leadership Program (YouLP) is a knowledge-sharing program consisting of modules dedicated to various themes. This program aims to enable committed and talented youth between 18 and 30 years old from Kazakhstan to strengthen their skills, potential, and knowledge in a wide range of areas strongly focusing on politics and civic engagement.  

As essential part of the program, participants attend six modules on the following topics:

  • Politics and State
  • Gender and Media
  • Economic and Social Development
  • Human Rights
  • Environment and Climate Change
  • Global World

In addition, YouLP includes workshops on presentation skills, public speaking, design thinking, project management, academic writing, and other topics.

  • Citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as foreign citizens permanently residing in Kazakhstan are eligible to participate in the program
  • Friedrich Ebert Foundation covers expenses associated with participation in the program
  • Modules are held in different cities of Kazakhstan with additional online activities
  • Modules are held in Kazakh, Russian, and English

The first generation of YouLP (2020-2021) has already completed the program. Coming from diverse backgrounds, 19 participants hold degrees in areas such as political science, journalism, engineering, psychology, and data science. 

The second generation of YouLP (2021-2022) had their first module in October 2021. 15 young people from different regions of Kazakhstan were selected out of 331.
