Just city through the Kazakh lense: How did the presentation of the Ädil Qala (Just City) project go?

On June 23, the «Ädil Qala» – «Just City» project was presented in Almaty, organized by Friedrich Ebert Foundation Kazakhstan and Urban Forum Kazakhstan.

On June 23, the «Ädil Qala» – «Just City» project was presented in Almaty, organized by Friedrich Ebert Foundation Kazakhstan and Urban Forum Kazakhstan.

During the event, participants shared their vision of a just city, while invited experts shared their expertise on infrastructure, urban identity, good governance, environment, and gender equality. During the discussion, all kinds of solutions to existing problems in the mentioned areas were proposed by participants and experts.

It is worth mentioning that the topics for discussion were selected as a result of the first working meeting of the Ädil Qala project held on May 13, 2022.

Also, a guest speaker from FES Kenya, Titus Kaloki, coordinator of The Just City in Kenya project, delivered a presentation. The expert shared his experience in creating Just Cities in the African region and talked about the challenges the project faced during its work.
